Some personal notes on this organ: (these are my opinion only) Positive comments: 1. The sound is acceptable as a practice instrument. This is a early digital organ so the sounds are not what one would expect from a modern digital organ, but this organ is over 30 years old and NOT modern so that is not to be expected. 2. The keyboards are good, I like the raked (angled) design of the swell keyboard. 3. It does have a full AGO pedalboard/clavier which is excellent for practicing and the touch of the pedals is perfect in my opinion with just the right amount of spring/touch. 4. The speaker system is adequate for use as a practice instrument. Negative comments: 1. I do not like the electrical sounds you get while changing stops while a note is depressed (see the above movie for samples of that). 2. Design wise I think this organ is well..very 1970's to put it nicely. 3. The computer "paper" card sound sample system is something out of a bad 1960's science fiction movie. You insert a paper card into the reader and you get different sounds. It does work however and some of the cards I tried out did produce very nice sounds. 4. The pedal stops have a electrical sound to them that is not very pleasing. 5. The pistons erase every time you unplug the organ, or when the power goes out momentarily. 6. The volume pedal is very narrow and difficult to adjust easily while playing. 7. No reverbation. So the sound is very dry/flat. This organ is temporarily set up in a large garage which has nice accoustics so the organ does sound pretty good but in a dead room I think it would be very dry. Please feel free to email me (from the NYCFarmboy.com main page) with any questions/tips. |
